Tomorrow night's session is Speedy Hills at Killynether Wood. This is a great session for building strength in the legs and developing power, a few of these sessions under your belt and you'll be skipping up that hill to the Temple of the Winds. We will meet in the walled garden for a warm up at 7.15pm before going into the main session which will last around 40 minutes. Make sure you put on some insect repellent and bring some water for hydration as it is likely to be a warm one! Looking forward to seeing you all there! Chris.

👏👏👏Huge thanks to the captains: Jonny and Shannon for 'Captains member of the month' and congratulations to our first winners for May: Ricky and Catherine. Below are a few words from each of the captains about their May winner. 👏👏👏

Shannon: I have chosen Catherine McKenna Cauley to be awarded for Strider of the month in May due to her recent outstanding performances! Catherine is a regular attender at our training sessions and can often be seen keeping the speedier men on their toes! She ran Bangor parkrun back in April for the first with a super speedy PB time of 20:49. Her run in the Belfast marathon on the 7th May was nothing short of superb! Catherine was the first Scrabo Strider home completing the 26.2 mile race in an amazing 3 hours 25 mins and 14 seconds awarding her a prize for being the 11th female across the finish line! Her winning streak continued as she took 2nd prize in the Runher coastal 10k on Friday 25th May completing the difficult course with the notorious ‘heartbreak hill’ at the end in a super impressive time of 41.38! Catherine is going from strength to strength and is a wonderful representative of our super ‘little’ running club!

Jonny: My STRIDER of the MONTH for May will be awarded to Ricky Jordan. Ricky joined our club just under a year ago and has progressed continuously. He is a regular at the training sessions and frequents the Friday and Sunday runs where he would tend to go for the longer distances which has greatly helped his times over the last while . He recently completed the Newry half marathon in an impressive pb of 1:31:46 and before that, being pipped to the post by Catherine at Belfast marathon with another sub 3:30 within the club that day getting him a 3:25:47 pb, he has also got a 40:24 10k and a 19:07 5k time, he wears the purple vest and represents our wonderful club with pride and respect. Not that 'finish times' define the STRIDER of the MONTH but on this occasion I think his speed and dignity truly deserves this award..
