Norman heads to Killarney and the Men Loop the Lough
Norman has a Tri at the Hardman Atlantic Way!
On Saturday 29th August Norman Mawhinney from Scrabo Striders together with Catherine Browne (Peninsula Tri Club) and Matt Ormesher (North Down Cycling Club) headed to Killarney to take on the Wild Atlantic Way Triathlon in a relay format. The event comprises a 2.65 mile swim, a 112 mile cycle and a 26.2 mile run (full marathon distance). The team finished in an impressive 5th Relay team overall in a combined time of 10hrs and 6 minutes. Catherine completed the swim in 1hr 5 mins, Matt finished the cycle in 5hrs 45 mins and Norman completed the marathon in 3 hrs 16 minutes. Congratulations to the athletes, very impressive indeed.
On Sunday, Ultra Club Ireland held a training run aptly named, Loop the Lough. The event was a 87km run which started at Strangford and followed the outskirts of Strangford Lough finishing up at Portaferry. Three Scrabo Striders went along and Dan Foord completed the full distance, Congratulations Dan. Liam Rodger completed 31 miles of the Loop with Graeme McGowan McGowan completing just over 34 miles. Super efforts from the Striders. Massive well done from all at the club.
