Scrabo Striders hit the leaderboard at Down Royal!
On Saturday 5th September we saw another fantastic race take place at Down Royal Racecourse as part of the ChampionChip Ireland Running Series. There were 3 races, the 5k, 10k and 10 mile race with some of the Scrabo Striders completing all three!
The Scrabo Striders had great success on the course, even on such a windy day. In the 5k first over the line was Dave Stevenson in a time of 18:13 who was followed shortly after by Norman Mawhinney in 20:10. These two unbelievably talented runners did not just complete this in such super fast times but completed all 3 races and have now been placed on the ChampionChipIrelanleaderboard, with Dave jumping 2 places to 4th place and Norman placing in 2nd place.
In the 10k race we had Ricky Jordan cross over the line in a super fast time of 36.48, Norman followed in a time of 44:07 and then Dave Stevenson in 46:23.
In the 10 mile race the first Strider was Thomas Steele in an impressive 1:05:08! Then closely followed was Dave Stevenson who came in at 1:07:21 and John Brown in 1:18:07 along with Norman Mawhinney 1:18:11.
Then in the 10 mile race we had a number of Personal Bests, Paul Blair came in with a fantastic time of 1:24:04, Nicola McNamara 1:36:50, Carli Lindgren 1:37:57 and Geordie McEwan 1:39:59. These runners have been training extremely hard and it’s evidently paying off!
We also must say a fantastic well done to Jenna Jordan who completed her first 5k in 26:03, she may not be an official Scrabo Strider yet but soon might be!
Scrabo Striders train every week and we are looking forward to our upcoming Virtual Vice Captains Race which will take place from 14th September to the 20th September.
