Striders Weekly Update 23/03/2022
The striders are back on tour participating in races all over the country this weekend starting off strong with the Spar Craic 10K on St Patrick's Day with 15 striders participating in the beautiful trek around Belfast city centre. Thomas Steele leading for the Striders placing 33rd overall with a time of 37.03. Personal Bests from Dan Foord at 40:34, Luke Mars 1:12:49, Hannah Magee 1:13:21. The event held up its name by keeping the Craic going the whole way with music and dancing at any opportunity along with our members sporting as much green for the lucky day as possible.
With the first glimpses of spring bringing us some sunshine this week we headed off to sunny Larne, with the Larne 10 mile Run we had 25 Striders taking part and Thomas Steele leading the striders once again and completing the course in 1:01:11. Plenty of striders were at Larne for the first time with 10 mile personal bests from Colin Harper 1:07:22 Graeme McGowan 1:13:12, Victoria Atkinson 1:14:29, Gary Clarke 1:20:43, Chris Millar 1:22:23, Vanessa Mannis 1:38:03, Emma McCracken 1:47:14, Karen Clarke 1:47:29
With plenty of support from members at the finish line our runners have thanked Olli Seeger and Elaine McGonigal for getting them through the final stretch with words of encouragement!
As always the Striders participated in our local and not so local Parkruns, most visited being the ever popular Comber Parkrun with travels out to Wales and England. Congratulations to the milestones achieved this week with Alison Rodgers on her 25th and Alice & Kieran McNamara on their 50th.
Big shout out to Sonya Summersgill and Judith Boyd for completing the virtual 'We Run Wild half marathon' around Carrickfergus with some very scenic views and some rougher weather.
