This series is hosting several other runs including 5/10kms at Stormont, Gortin Forest and North Down. Friday 24th June also saw the anticipated return of the Ards Half Marathon. With over 75 Striders taking part, and around 500 runners in total pounding the streets of ards, it was a great event and weather conditions proved to be perfect! The first strider home was Martin Strachan in an impressive 1.21.49! PBs were achieved by Thomas Steele (1.22.50), Conor McNamara (1.38.27), Michael Johnston (1.37.54), Gareth Robson(1.55.10), Emma Clements (1.56.54), George McGonigal (1.57.09), Jennifer Couper(2.06.25), Clare McIlveen (2.09.07), Nicola McNamara (2.16.19), Karen Farrelly (2.23.30), Jenna Lavery (2.25.28), Karen Clarke (2.25.23), Carol Graham (2.30.09), Natasha Graham (2.39.36), Naomi Fleming(2.42.11), and Vanessa Mannis (2.15.59). Superb achievement over a hilly course. For many this was also their first half marathon, well done to all who took part and well done to those who supported, volunteered, and helped the striders provide food afterwards!

Abrar Hossain took to the warmer climate, running the “La Media de San Fermin” Half Marathon, in Pamplona in a fantastic time of 1.33.13.  Saturday also saw Emma McCracken run her 100th Parkrun at Stormont and Clare McIlveen run her 50th Parkrun in Comber, both after running the Ards half marathon!
