Scrabo Striders Leg it at the Larne Half Marathon

Congratulations to all our members that took part in the 2017 Larne Half Marathon on Saturday 18thMarch. Organised each year by Larne Athletic Club the 21.1 km route is both challenging and scenic (hills and costal), with over 1700 runners competing. Thankfully the weather turned out to be better than forecast, with a gentle breeze and a hint of heat in the early Spring sun.

We were so delighted that 49 members ran. First home for the ladies was Catherine Cauley, followed by Shannon Clegg and Kerri Anderson. First over the line for the gents was the super-fast Curtis McCaw followed by Russell Armour and Kieran McNamara. Then followed Paul Sheldon, Garry Cavill, Jonathan Wray, Graeme McGowan, Nigel Martin, Mervyn Kinney, Lynn Sheldon, Maureen Rea, Alan Steen, Barbara McKechnie, Gary Clarke, Fiona McAvoy, Chris Stevenson, Colin Harper, Keith Campbell, Leanne Campbell, Lisa Bell, Sheena Crone, Linda Dugan, Phillippa Wilson, Eileen Pollock, Lyndsey Lappin, Abrar Hossain, Toni Kisimova, Stephen Campbell, Emma Geddis, Lorraine McCrum, Julie Fisher, Alison Busby, Megan Adams, Karen Farrelly, Emmanuel Farrelly, Catherine Lavery, Karen Clarke, Greer Munday, Karen Forster, Jenny Smyth, Hannah Robinson, Suzi Kinney, Victoria Armstrong, Barbara Morrow and Rachel Tully Murdock. Amanda Martin also ran. What a turn out and well done to everyone!

We were also represented at the Spar Craic 10K which took place on St. Patrick’s Day through a Belfast city route. First for the ladies was Tina Miller and for the gents Jonny Kinney. Then came Olli Seeger, Angie Crone, Scot Knight, Rhonda Magowan and Janice Irvine.

Two club members worthy of specific mention are Kirsty Meredith, who completed the Athens half marathon and Neil McCormick who completed the St. Patrick’s 6 hour challenge. Well done guys.
