Another Week, Another Milestone for the Striders

On Saturday, Striders attended the Born2Run 5K and 10K race in Loughgall. This is the 4th race into the Run Forest Run Series and the first race of the new year for Born2Run. 3 Striders were in attendance. Karen Collins finished in (49.44), Next was Simon Ferguson by one second (49.45) and then David Morton  in (1.10.50). Well Done, Amazing Finishes!

We Couldn’t end off the week without a parkrun or two!! On Saturday, Striders celebrated Naomi Fleming’s 50th Parkrun at Stormont. Amazing achievement Naomi! The Club had 44 striders running in 10 venues which Stormont being the most popular with 20 striders attending. Massive Well done to Kathryn Chesney who achieved a PB of (26.48) at Stormont, Peter Doggart who achieved a CPB of (23.13) at Comber parkrun, Caroline Dwyer who achieved a CPB of (27.05) at Waterworks Parkrun, Catherine Lavery who achieved a CPB of (27.14) at Waterworks also and Georgia McGonigal who achieved a CPB on (32.14) at Montalto parkrun. Amazing results!

On Sunday’s park runs, 16 Juniors ran at 3 venues with Comber being the most popular with 13 juniors. Huge Well Done to Keara Simpson who achieved 2nd Female at Comber parkrun, Kya Murdoch who achieved a PB of (17.09) at Comber parkrun and Harry McCready who achieved 2nd at Moira Parkrun. Well Done all!

Massive Congratulations to our December member of the months Colin Campbell and Angie Crone. Club Captain Gillian Pearson awarded Angie Member of the month because During the month of December Angie hit an amazing milestone, her 100th Parkrun at Hillsborough Forest with the support of her running buddies, She has been a regular at Club training and has been clocking up the miles on Sunday social runs during the month. Well Done Angie! Club Captain Matt Bell awarded Colin Campbell with December’s member of the month also because December marked a significant milestone for Colin, He completed his 100th Official marathon at the EAMS Carrickfergus event, His Marathon Journey began in 2013 at the Belfast Marathon and since then he has steadily added to the tally, Even completing at 107 mile Dublin to Belfast Ultra. Incredible Achievement Colin, Well Done!

Run the Runways has sold nearly 50% of their entries so hurry to get your entry into the annual Run the Runways, Hosted by Scrabo Striders! It will return on Friday 8th May, there is a Kids 2K race, 5K and 10K race at Newtownards airport.
