Scrabo Striders triumphant at Ballygalget

On Sunday, 12 striders completed the Ballygalget 5K and 10K race. First was the 5K where Jonathan Caughey achieved his first ever race win, placing first in a time of (19.46), followed by Junior strider Harry McCready who achieved 2nd place in a fast time of (20.36), they were both followed by Alyson Graham in (26.53), Calum McCready in (27.52), Sarah McCready in (28.12), Sharon Murdoch in (29.50) and Emma Ruddock in (32.24). Then the first strider over the line for the 10K race was Norman Mawhinney in (51.37) followed by Nichola Caughey (51.59), Sonya Summersgill (56.12), Lorraine Adams in (1.04.06) and Michelle Ennis in (1.07.50). Well Done All, Great Results!
On Saturday, 3 Striders – Liam Rodger, Craig Simpson and Darren Johnston completed the Ballycastle, Rabbit run Half Marathon and marathon ( We run wild NI rabbit run ). Craig Simpson and Liam Rodger completed in the marathon race and Darren Johnston completed the half marathon. Craig was the first strider home in at time of (4.35.31) followed by Liam Rodger in (5.22.26). Darren Jonhston completed the Half marathon in a time of (2.20.39) Amazing results
Norman Mawhinney took part in the Derry XC where he secured the M65 win for the NI master series. Amazing achievement Norman, Well done!
We Can’t end the week without a parkrun or two! On Saturday, 53 Striders completed park runs at 10 venues, with the most popular being Bangor parkrun. Well done to Iona Chanas, Catherine Lavery, Georgia McGonigal, Kathryn Chesney and Naomi Magowan(finished 1st Female at Loughmacrory parkrun) who all achieved PB’s. Well Done to Harry, Calum and Sarah McCready all achieved Course Pb’s at Ormeau Parkrun along with Kathy Henderson as well. Faye and Cheryl Alexander also achieved Course Pb’s at Orangefield parkrun. Congratulations to Penny Hamilton who completed her 50th Parkrun at Belfast Victoria.
On Sunday, 14 Juniors completed park runs at 4 different venues, with the most popular venue being Comber parkrun. An amazing achievement made by Lydia Blair who completed her 200th parkrun, she celebrated her milestone at Comber parkrun with a well-deserved chocolate cake, Well Done Lydia! There were 3 podium finishes at 2 different venues, Well Done also to Iona Chanas who Placed 2nd at Comber (PB), Heath Farrington who placed 2nd Male at Comber and Rory Braniff who placed 1st at Woodvale parkrun. Well Done to Kalia and Kya Murdoch who both achieved a PB at Comber parkrun, Nathaniel Frazer who achieved a CPB at Victoria parkrun, Harriet Frazer who achieved a PB also at Victoria parkrun and Lyla McNamara who achieved a CPB at Bangor parkrun. Amazing results by all Juniors!
