Striders take on Berlin, Prague and Omagh

Striders had a busy week with Striders travelling far and wide to complete a 5K or a half marathon. On Saturday Lone Strider Jennifer McAteer travelled to Prague to complete the Prague Half Marathon. She completed the half marathon in a time of 2.56.42 which is her fastest Half marathon in 3 Years. An amazing achievements Jennifer, Well Done!

On Sunday, 8 striders took on The Berlin Half Marathon, First Strider across the line was Karen Collins in a time of 1.41.49 followed by Steven Hanna (1.48.03), Peter McGonigal (1.50.15), Simon Ferguson (1.50.37), Jenna Lavery (2.00.25), Emma McCracken (2.34.12), Cheryl Alexander (2.37.34) and Elaine McGonigal (2.37.50). Incredible Results, Well done all!

Also on Sunday was the Omagh 5K and Half Marathon. First up was the 5K Race, first strider over the line was Emma Ruddock (30.33) followed by Maddie Dynes (32.54). Next was the Half Marathon, the First Strider over the line was Martin Conroy in a time of 1.25.01, followed by Michael Johnston (1.35.00), Graeme McGowan (1.45.02), Peter Doggart (1.54.36), Maxine Dynes (2.01.56), Georgia McGonigal (2.10.53), Chris Edwards (2.20.15) and Karen Wilson (2.20.27). Great results Striders, Amazing Running!

On Wednesday, Graeme McGowan competed in the London Olympia Hydrox where he completed it in a Great time of 1.40.26. Well Done Graeme!

We can’t end off the week without a Parkrun or two!!

On Saturday, 44 Striders ran at 9 different venues.  The most popular location was Stormont with 26 Striders while other striders travelled to Comber, Crawfordsburn, Belfast Victoria, Waterworks, Larne, Carrickfergus, Citypark and Ecos. Huge congratulations to Donna Johnston who completed her 50th Parkrun, she celebrated her achievement at Stormont Parkrun. Well done to Abrar Hossain who achieved a CPB at Stormont Parkrun in a time of 21.30 and Ben Palfreyman (25.26) and Alyson Graham (25.46) who achieved PB’s at Comber Parkrun. Amazing achievement for willow Farrington who finished 3rd Female at Crawfordsburn parkrun in a time of 23.27. Well Done Willow!

On Sundays, The Junior Striders were racking in the podium finishes. 9 Juniors ran 3 Different venues with the most popular location being Comber Parkrun, with some Juniors running at Belfast Victoria and Cherry Orchard. Amazing finishes by all juniors in particular, Harry McCready who came 1st at Belfast Victoria while also achieving a CPB of 7.38, Iona Chanas who came 1st at Cherry Orchard while also achieving a CPB of 8.38, Keara Simpson who came 2nd female at Comber Parkrun, Heath Farrington who came 3rd Overall at Comber Parkrun and Rory Braniff who came 3rd also achieving a CPB of 8.37. Amazing results Juniors, Super Running from all.
