What a week for Striders – Sea views, Park run Tourism, and milestones

This week was a busy exciting one for the Striders.

On Friday night, a few striders completed the Sea2Sky 5K and 10K race in Newcastle, Co. Down. In the 5K race, first strider across the line was Rory Braniff in a time of 24.49, followed by Stephen Braniff in 38.57 and Bronagh Shields in 40.03. In the 10K race, first strider across the line was Luke Braniff in a time of 49.09, he was also first in the male junior, Well Done Luke! Next Strider over the line was Mark Halus in a time of 53.15, followed by Judith Boyd in a time of 57.07 and Penny Hamilton in a time of 1.13.40. Amazing Results, Well Done All!

On Thursday, Karen Collins completed the Grim up North – Huddersfield 10K, She placed First Female in a time of 52.17, Amazing, Well Done Karen!

On Saturday, A few Striders completed the Greyabbey Endurance races, Beverley McKee completed the 3-hour race completing 23KM and Daniel and Emma Ruddock completed the 5K race in a time of 33.13 and 38.38.

A huge congratulations to Norman Mawhinney who was awarded the Spirit of Robert Miskelly Award at the Darragh Cross 5K and 10K race on Sunday. He completed the 10K race in a time of 43.06, Alongside Trevor Woodside and Clare McIIveen Who completed the 5K race. Trevor was the first strider over the line in a time of 18.53, he also placed Second overall, Well Done Trevor! Trevor was followed by Clare in a time of 30.16. Amazing results!

On Sunday also, Striders took part in the Run With Pride race in Belfast, First strider across the line was Hannah Magee in a time of 40.06, followed by Luke Mars in a time of 40.10 and Paul Magee in a time of 48.47. Wonderful results, Well Done!

This week was filled with lots of parkrun tourism from our regular striders at comber parkrunners to striders in Orlando, Florida to Canada. This week 105 striders competed a parkrun at 19 different venues with the most popular venue being Stormont parkrun as many were compleng their couch to 5K graduation, It was great to see so many striders ther supporting. Huge Congratulations to Harry McCready and Sarah McCready who celebrated huge parkrun milestones on holiday at Clermont Waterfront in Orlando, Florida, Harry completed his 50th Parkrun while also achieving a PB and Sarah completed her 100th Parkrun, Amazing milestones to celebrate on holiday!!!

A special mention to the Couch to 5K graduates at stormont, well done on a great accomplishment!! A huge well done to the following who achieved PB’s: Gareth Miskimmin, Caroline Dwyer, Catherine Lavery, Karen Wilson, Paul Breen, Gareth Gordon, Jake Clarke, Ann Blackmore, Fiona Lowry, Ivan Mills, Mel Keenan, Lydia Blair and Richard Bovill.
